JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for championing all health, safety and environmental (HSE) activities for the organization. Ensuring employees follow HSE regulations and supervising operations to promote the wellbeing of the team.  Duties include using safety research to create policies that eliminate workplace hazards, documenting accidents in the workplace, and investigating the circumstance of illness or injury. This position develops and manages the environmental and climate control initiatives within the organization. 

 

JOB RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Knowledge of manufacturing production processes.
  • Implements and maintains an effective incident investigation process that exposes and identifies root causes, then formulates corrective actions to abate exposure.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  •  Analyzing data to assess operation or project.
  • Monitor/Assess performance of processes and/or organization to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
  • Review documents or materials for compliance with policies or regulations.
  • Provide guidance and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, systems-, or process-related topics.
  • Coordinate the completion of periodic regulatory assessments to ensure all legal requirements are met and records are maintained.
  • Provide safety compliance training for all employees, including all OSHA required policies and procedures.
  • Standardize corporate HSE between business units. 
  • Lead Safety Committee.  Develop formal educational or training programs or classes and teach and/or instruct employees.
  • Complete Workers Compensation incident reports, investigate injuries, and identifying root cause, and establish and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Complete all filings with Department of Labor, OSHA and county/city government.
  • Maintain knowledge of current developments in area of expertise.
  • Developing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Bring members of a group together and successfully accomplish tasks.

Education and Experiences

  • Requires a BSE or and/or approved equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in health and safety, environmental, and quality.
  • Proven leadership skills in HSE.
  • Ability to lead cross functional teams across organization to success.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Experience in developing and implementing sustainable HSE management systems is strongly desired.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Establish and implement processes; and organize and maintain documentation and records.
  • Excellent computer skills (i.e.:  MS Office, ACAD, Windows).
  • Ability to manage and prioritize competing tasks.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to observe confidentiality.
  • Has the ability to work overtime and/or work on “off-shifts” as required by business needs.
